Paint Slingers is an art center and painting party business owned by Kelly Denton and Stephanie Sandefur. The business provides positive painting experiences for anyone interested in creating a painting without having to purchase all the supplies. These ‘painting parties’ are available in the Paint Slingers studio, in homes, and at hotel conference centers. The paintings to be completed by a group are selected at the time the ‘party’ is booked so that the 16×20 canvases may be pre-drawn. Guests arrive at the party to find their canvases set up on a table easel, an apron across the chair back, paint, water, and brushes all ready to go. The teacher gives some initial instructions and introductions and the painting time begins. Paintings are usually completed in under two hours.
Please note that Paint Slingers works hard to leave the area for the party in the same condition as it was when staff arrives. The floors are tarped, tables are covered, and all dirty water cups and paint brushes are removed and cleaned off site.

What makes Paint Slingers different from other painting party businesses?

The primary differences include the range of party offerings (described in detail in the next section) and the professional attention to every detail necessary to ensure a positive event. No Paint Slinger employee works an out of studio event who has not been trained by the owner and completed a set number of hours working with customers inside the Studio in the Eastern Shore Plaza.
Paint Slingers will design a painting for individual groups that is specific for their interests, or industry. The staff has been chosen carefully and all teachers are certified art teachers with a current teaching license and state background check clearance. This is especially important when considering a company who will work with children at various sites.
Also all paintings are original creations of the staff members who are working artistsas well as teachers. At this time all teachers have at least 12 years teaching experience and many hours teaching all ages.
Our staff members are from various parts of the country who live currently in the gulf coast area and we also have Spanish speaking staff if necessary.
The attention to individuals attending the party, the ability of staff to adapt to individual requests, and the variety of interesting parties offered makes Paint Slingers unique in their field.
The materials used are gallery wrapped canvases, high quality acrylic paints, and better brushes. (To obtain a good result, good materials must be used!)

What are some of the standard and unique parties offered by Paint Slingers?

A standard painting party consists of one painting design for a group of twenty or more people. As previously described the canvases are pre-drawn and all supplies are provided for the painting to be completed in about two hours.

A specialty party can be one where several paintings are offered to guests and the completion time is increased to up to three hours. More time is needed because guests are not following a step by step procedure and require more individual attention and time is spent setting up individual paint pallets as the party begins. Parties that follow this format offer guests more choices but also cost more as the preparation time is greater.

Brides maids’ luncheon painting parties have been popular at Paint Slingers and the completed paintings can be the gift that a bride gives her bridesmaids. Paint Slingers has a beautiful wedding gown apron for the bride to wear at the party and several specially created paintings to choose from…brides are also welcome to request a unique design for their party.

Paint Slingers can put together children’s poolside painting events, indoor events, birthday parties and much more.

Fund raisers are offered at the Paint Slingers studio in Spanish Fort, and at locations secured by various groups.

Paint Slingers also offers unwind, revive, and de-stress sessions for groups. These sessions are led by an art therapist and can be booked for an hourly rate plus the cost of painting. There are sessions especially for musical groups, sports teams, pilots, and others who experience stressful work environments, or spend long periods on the road or have long work weeks with little time off.

How far in advance should events be booked?

For a standard group event where participants are creating the same painting only a couple of weeks notice is needed. However the sooner a date can be locked in for an event the more likely the availability of that date will be.

For all other events a minimum of three weeks is needed to ensure enough time to design unique paintings, order materials, and prep the canvases.

Paint Slingers has the staff and supplies to run several parties/events at one time.

What ages enjoy Painting Party Events?

Children ages four years up to adults of all ages, both men and women enjoy these relaxing parties. A common comment is that the time passed so quickly they didn’t realize how long they had been painting. Others comment on how they feel completely relaxed and thought of nothing else but the painting during the entire time. This mental break is experienced by all ages.

Pricing structure for parties at hotels, conference centers, and private homes

Standard event: 20 or more guests, $45 per person*
Less than 20 guests, $45 per person plus a $50 set up/prep fee
Minimum of 10 guests to book event, 16×20 canvas

Specialty event: 20 or more guests, $45 per person plus $70 set up/prep fee
Less than 20 guests, $45 per person plus $100 set up/prep fee
Minimum of 8 guests to book event, 16×20 canvas

Bridesmaids’ luncheon painting party: minimum of 12 guests, $35 per person with
choice of standard paintings. $70 design fee for special creations.
$ 100 prep fee for all size parties of this type
10×10 or 9×12 canvas size, $50 for 16×20 canvas size.
Food should be contracted with the hotel or caterer separately.

Children’s events: 1 ½ hour event : minimum 10 children, $40 per child,
10×10 or 9×12 canvas size, $70 set up/prep fee.

Snacks and beverages are the responsibility of the event sponsor.

[ Individual suppliers are often looking for events to sponsor at industry conventions. Having a painting party sponsored by a supplier is a great way for a supplier to get recognition. Keeping spouses entertained and children occupied with a product they take home is a great way to create a positive memory of an individual supplier. Suppliers may also have their information affixed to the back of the canvases so there is no doubt later who provided the event. A suppliers banner can be displayed at the event as well.]

Every Tuesday night ladies are invited to join in the fun and paint along with our instructors. You can complete the painting chosen for that evening or call ahead to select anything from our collection. Bring your favorite beverage!

Bring one friend or many, or your sweetheart- bring your favorite beverage and snacks or dinner if you like. Paint anything from our collection but please call and let us know you are coming so we can have your canvas ready. After School [August-May] Tuesday and Thursdays 4:00-6:00.
Drop off your child or come in and paint with them, our certified teachers will assist you in selecting and creating a special painting. Calling to let us know your coming is helpful.

Saturday Mornings: 10-12. [notice this time is only available when no birthday party is booked] Drop your child off to paint while you shop or stay with them and
paint together.

Classes are $70 per month with a one time $15 registration materials fee. Students learn drawing and painting techniques, clay hand building techniques, principles of design, art history, and more. Drawing for Boys

Starts in September, Taught by Charlotte Green, Ages 8-12, Mondays from 5-6:30. Subjects that interest boys. Learn to shade and create three dimensional effects. Develop larger drawings, work with various pencils and much more, $75 per month. All supplies included in price except sketch book.

After School Art Classes for ages 7-12

Mixed Media, drawing and painting. $80 per month includes all supplies. Different media each month. September- clay [hand building skills]; October- watercolor techniques[create beautiful watercolors with resist, salt, and wet paper techniques]; November-working with acrylic paints[painting on canvas, how to control paint]Taught by Kelly Denton, 4:00-5:30, class meets on Wednesdays.
Pre-School Class: Meets Friday mornings from 10-11:30. Preschoolers will paint, draw, work with clay. Classes build fine motor skills and teach basic color and art elements vocabulary. $70 per month includes all supplies. Taught by Linda Lee.

We’ve helped raise money for sports teams, cheerleading and dance groups, girl scout and cub scout troops, church youth groups, various school clubs and civic organizations and more! Call for more information. This is a fun, effective, and easy fund raiser. Groups of 15 or more split the funds raised 50/50.

Open Painting time:

Drop by the studio, select any pre-drawn painting and walk out with it completed in about two hours. Call ahead to pick any thing you see displayed on our walls or on our face book fan page photo album. New paintings added weekly! [16x20 canvas painting for just $38!] We also have many paintings in the $25 to $35 price range.

Paintin’ from Scratch

Forget the usual painting with a pattern and follow one of our teachers for a painting you create yourself from start to finish. Step by step instruction makes it easy and fun. Give it a try! Groups can do this as a party for just $30 per person.( groups of 7 or more!)

Bring a Friend or Date night

Come in and paint with pals on Friday nights! Bring a friend or date night will change to Saturday nights when High School Football games start in late August. Call and we’ll have your canvas ready to go. Bring in supper or snacks and the beverage of your choice. We have everything else! Including wine opener, glasses, dishes, etc.. Fun time for everyone. Remember you don’t have to be an artist to create a masterpiece! $35 each.

Party! Party!

We host all sorts of parties from children’s birthday parties to Mardi Gras groups and bridal showers. Use our caterer or you can bring in your own. We also host motivational company parties and can create paintings specific to your group or organization. We can come to your location with our “Paint Slingers on the road” setup. Also! Join all the fun at Paint Slingers Art Camp! Put on your painting clothes and come create wonderful art with our certified art teachers. Several great dates to choose from and two different camps to select from…. Choose what works for your schedule and come make memories with us!

Sign your child (ages 5-12) up for a week of painting, drawing, sculpture making, printmaking and more! Every camper goes home with a t-shirt, portfolio full of art they made at camp, and a fun memory! Price includes all supplies, t-shirt, and daily snacks. Five camp dates to choose from… choose the one the best fits your schedule. Please sign up early as we limit the number in each camp. Forms are available in the studio as well.
